As the appetite for mobile convenience grows, the dining and restaurant app category continues to serve up significant numbers. Sensor Tower provides a comprehensive look into the performance of the top applications in this category throughout Europe in the first quarter of 2021.
The McDonald’s - Non-US app saw a noticeable fluctuation in downloads, starting the quarter with approximately 625K and peaking at around 940K in early February. Weekly active users (WAUs) showed a steady increase from 6.6M to nearly 9M by the end of March.
Burger King® experienced a more stable trend in downloads, hovering around the 230K to 280K mark throughout the quarter. The app's WAUs witnessed a gradual growth, starting at about 3.1M and reaching over 3.1M by the quarter's end.
For KFC: Food delivery., downloads began at roughly 249K and saw a peak of 281K in the first week of January, followed by a general downward trend to 207K. WAUs for KFC showed a slight decline from around 2.9M to 2.7M.
Domino's Pizza Delivery downloads showed variability, with an initial 145K downloads, a mid-quarter spike to 181K, and ending with approximately 133K. The app's WAUs started at 673K, peaked at 739K, and closed the quarter with nearly 699K active users.
Lastly, the Subway® - Official App maintained a download count in the range of 46K to 66K. The WAUs showed a slight increase from 136K to 166K throughout the quarter.
